Blastculture returns in our first EP release of 2016 with two fresh tracks for the new year. Featuring his trademark tight grooves, Gravitation and Based On A True Story combine tribal rhythms, crisp house beats and include a darker, techno influence and stuttering effects. Dave Kent and Notch provide a remix of Gravitation, adding acid house riffs. Find out more and download the tracks from the release page.
Happy new year! Last year we smashed our overall download record for any year with over 1.5 million downloads of all our individual tracks across the web, including downloads on other portals such as the Free Music Archive and Jamendo, so thanks to everyone who listened to or downloaded our music in 2015.
Our annual download chart for last year has been compiled and it is a fourth consecutive year on top for the ever popular Beat Doctor remix of Memories Of Thailand by Risey. There’s also no change at number 2 for Psychadelik Pedestrian’s Night Beach, but some good news for Marc Burt whose popularity in 2015 has meant remixes of Lies, Turbulence and Last Flight Home have gained 3rd, 4th and 6th positions. Redmann‘s Plasma, our top download back in 2011, was our 5th most popular track. You can view the full chart here.
Our December EP release is out today and features two house tracks from new artist Notch. After providing one of the remixes on last month’s EP, Notch’s debut EP comprises deep house grooves blended with electro house synthwork and glitch. With a deep, rumbling bassline and warm, reverberating female vocal samples, Believe In Love gradually builds the energy, adding pounding stab patterns, bouncy arpeggio riffs and uplifting pads. Broken Record, which first appeared on our Netlabel Day EP earlier this year, is on a slightly more experimental tip and combines tribal house grooves with dark bass wobbles, old skool rave pads and turntable effects. Visit the release page for more information and to grab those free mp3 downloads.
Expertly timed to fit in with two of our autumn album releases, our latest EP features two club remixes of Psychadelik Pedestrian tracks. The original mix of Hypnotise was included on our Best Bytes 3 compilation and Phish Funk have joined forces with Aerologic to bring the track to the dancefloor. Combining the funky house sound of Phish Funk with the upfront progressive EDM vibe of Aerologic and the stuttering electro arpeggios of the original track, our new club mix of Hypnotise features funky bass guitar alongside electronic house grooves. Pulse is taken from the new Psychadelik Pedestrian album Fifteen, and here Notch pumps up the tempo and adds deep house rhythms while keeping faithful to the original electro track, using the punchy melody and synth riffs. Download both tracks on our release page.
Two years after his last LP, Nocturnia, Psychadelik Pedestrian returns with a brand new 10 track album combining his trademark blend of chillout, trance, breaks and trip hop. Featuring a slightly mellower sound and focussing on instrumental tracks, Fifteen features strong chilled grooves in new tracks Catching Rays and Breaking Waves as well as Starlight, making an appearance here after previously being released on an EP. Also included is plenty of atmospheric orchestral action, with Into The Ether setting the scene, The Dead Of Night introducing a slightly eerie feel with sinister strings and Sleep Tight bringing the album to a climax with some dirty electronic sounds. Find out more and download all of the tracks free of charge on our album page.
In our latest double track EP, Diamond Cuts recreate that old skool speed garage vibe. Beetlework combines the bass wobbles and skippy, hi-hat driven garage grooves with modern deep house influences, throwing in a catchy organ hit pattern and chord stabs. Touch stays faithful to the old skool garage sound with sizzling hi-hats, echoing vocal samples and reverberating organ hits. Download both tracks from our release page here!
Welcome to our new look Toucan Music website, launched today – we hope you like it! Until now, the last major change to our site was back in 2010, and although this design has served us well it was looking quite dated. Our refreshed look has been designed with both mobile and desktop browsing in mind, using the Bootstrap framework to resize content for smaller devices, and replacing our old Flash-based audio player with a new HTML5 audio player courtesy of Pupunzi.
As well as a new look, we’ve been working on new pages for our albums and DJ mixes, built in a similar style to our EP release pages. As well as making it easy to download album tracks, we have now made it easier to see which tracks can be commercially licensed, and download remix parts where available.
Our latest EP release, available to download today, features two new remixes from Blastculture who takes on two recent Aerologic tracks, Escapade and Jangle. Reworking Aerologic’s upfront EDM sound with his own unique funky yet minimal house sound, Blastculture adds tribal rhythms, glitchy beats and deep bass grooves – listen and grab those free downloads on our release page.
The latest in our Best Bytes extended, unmixed compilation series of free radio-safe dance music is now available to download from the Free Music Archive. As with our previous Best Bytes compilations, all of the older tracks have been remastered to improve the audio quality and bring you the very best listening experience. All of the music on the album is radio-safe and available for use under a Creative Commons licence, making the tracks ideal for use in videos, podcasts, radio shows and DJ sets. Two remixes of Phish Funk tracks feature in our August release out today, with Blastculture and Dave Kent on editing duties. Lava Lamp is tackled by Blastculture, who combines slick house beats with a laid back e-piano groove, pops and glitches to create that late night dancefloor vibe. Dave Kent tweaks The Squelch, adding even more acid grooves. As usual, both remixes are released free of charge under a Creative Commons licence and are available for free download – listen and get those downloads from our release page.

Our June release is here! This month we welcome back our friend Blastculture, who has created two new intricate house grooves for your listening pleasure. Crime Scene pumps along with a slightly acidic bassline riff while Lets Try To Sleep Now features a dark and brooding bassline alongside those crisp Blastculture beats and is definitely one for late night listening. To complete the EP, Aerologic has also produced an uplifting remix of Lets Try To Sleep, with a simple yet catchy plucked lead hook and plenty of reverb. So don’t fall asleep and go grab those downloads now – it would be a crime to miss them!
This month, Aerologic presents two brand new tracks in our latest release which is available for download today. Kicking things off is Transformation, featuring a massive trance supersaw riff, tingling arpeggios and a bleepy melody. The second track, Jangle, features plenty of warm synth chords and a deep, growling bassline building to a crescendo before breaking into uplifting trance melodies. As usual, both tracks are free to download as MP3 files and available for re-use under a Creative Commons licence – check them out on our release page.
Our April release is finally here and this month we have a treat for those of you who like your house music with a little bit of a retro vibe.
