Ten years ago on 8th March 2005, we released an EP from trance producer JMD featuring two tracks, Thirty One and Formation. Although the Toucan Music website had been live since January 2004, and had been releasing music online since 1997 under the name Frantik Music, the release of Thirty One and Formation marked a significant moment. Before this two track EP was released, Toucan had promoted all its music on external websites, such as the now-defunct Vitaminic and MP3.com free download portals. In 2005, Toucan Music became a netlabel and we began promoting music downloads directly on our own website, making our audio available under a Creative Commons licence for re-use. Ten years and a hundred and seven releases later, we’re still here! Having clocked up well over a million downloads, our netlabel has gone from strength to strength while continuing to promote a diverse range of electronic and dance styles. It’s December, the nights are closing in and there’s definitely a chill in the air – what better time to bring you a brand new mix of JMD’s trance track Polar? Aerologic is on hand to provide another epic EDM remix, keeping the essence of the original with it’s uplifting melodic hook and adding some seriously dirty bass riffs, punchy EDM beats and a huge saw lead. Hot on the heels of this remix is the one and only Blastculture, who has been busy in his studio reworking JMD’s collaboration with Kube, Interference. Adding his customary intricate techy beats and glitch effects while retaining the original acidic bass and haunting melodic vocal clips, Blastculture once again delivers a deep house track to keep those late night floors alive. We’ve got two great new releases featuring Blastculture coming soon! Firstly, Blastculture himself presents two new minimal hard house tracks, this time pushing the tempo faster and harder than in his summer release Shinoda vs Akane. JMD is back too with a bonus remix for this release, which is due later in November, so watch this space! After this one, we’ve got Blastculture on the remix with his own take on the classic Psychadelik Pedestrian track Night Beach, adding his unique house grooves to the chilled pads and strings. Look out for this one in a couple of months’ time.
Our new release today features two brand new chillout remixes of Redmann’s Zero Gravity. Psychadelik Pedestrian’s remix features atmospheric pads and half-speed beats, while Redmann’s own remix keeps the original sounds and slows down the tempo, adding acoustic beats. The release also includes remastered versions of JMD’s trance remix and Redmann’s breakbeat mix. As usual, all of the remixes are released under a Creative Commons licence for you to download, share and use in your DJ mixes and video productions.
