Happy new year! We’ve been in a reflective mood here at Toucan as we see in 2018, and have carried out our annual check to see which of our tracks have proved the most popular over the last year. In 2017, Psychadelik Pedestrian’s Drones was our most downloaded track, knocking Risey’s Memories Of Thailand from the top spot after five years as our most popular track between 2012 and 2016. Taking second and third in our chart are two tracks from Phish Funk’s Discotheque EP. There’s also a surprise new entry for Phish Funk in tenth place, with their track Beautiful Geometry entering our chart for the first time, despite being nearly ten years old, thanks to its inclusion on our Best Bytes 4 compilation released last year. You can view the complete chart here…
Fresh today, Aerologic and Notch present two remixes of classic Psychadelik Pedestrian vocal tracks. Notch takes the reins for a deep house reworking of Psychadelik Pedestrian’s 2010 track Tears In My Heart, while Aerologic is on hand for a remix of Psychadelik Pedestrian’s 2011 track Upside Down. Download both tracks free of charge and released under a Creative Commons licence for you to re-use in your DJ sets, podcasts and videos for non-commercial use.
Following up our Frau Holle LP for Netlabel Day earlier this summer, our latest EP presents two remixes of tracks from the album. Chasing Rainbows receives an update from Marc Burt and Notch, taking the original melody and adding house rhythms, uplifting pads and a catchy hook to finish. Psychadelik Pedestrian takes control for Ascending Souls, building up slowly with a gradually opening filtered hook, then bursting into life with haunting piano melodies and upfront electronic beats added to the uplifting chords of the original. Grab both tracks from this new release here.
New today, Aerologic presents two remixes of tracks from Psychadelik Pedestrian’s 2016 Un-Unplugged EP in this progressive house release. Speeding up the tempo, Aerologic’s remix of Drones builds up with the haunting strings and pads from the original before launching into huge chunky stabs with a slightly sinister feel, bringing the melody back to drive the track to a crescendo. The remix of Unprovoked Attack begins with a DJ friendly intro featuring s building vocal stab before breaking down into the mellow chords from the original, building up again with sizzling synths over chunky house beats. For Netlabel Day 2016 we are releasing two brand new three track EPs, available to download today. The Shot In The Dark EP features a trilogy of new electro house tunes from Beat Doctor, returning after a five year hiatus. Shot In The Dark leads the EP with a bouncy, uplifting bassline, rippling arpeggios and an echoing vocal snippet. Remote Control System has a similar echoing vocal sample but takes a more minimal approach with a relentless computerized bassline and bleepy sounds. Clockwatchers completes the trilogy with pumping house rhythms and old school rave stabs. For the other EP, Psychadelik Pedestrian follows up his recent LP, Fifteen, with three new tracks in a slightly different style on his Un-unplugged EP. Replacing the chilled vibes of Fifteen with a harder, electronic sound on this EP. Starting with warm yet relaxing pads and piano, Unprovoked Attack launches unexpectedly into heavy trip-hop beats, distorted guitar-esque synths, and floor-shaking bass, while keeping an uplifting melody in traditional Pedestrian style. Drones is a faster, more minimal outing with relentless tribal rhythms driving deep pitchbending sub-bass interspersed with a haunting piano riff. Naked Flames completes the EP with a more melodic, pop-influenced track, again with echoing distorted electric synths and deep, rumbling bass. All tracks on both EPs are available under a Creative Commons licence, free for re-use in your own DJ sets, videos and podcasts.
Blastculture and Notch return with three new remixes of tracks taken from the Psychadelik Pedestrian LP Fifteen. With two new remixes, Blastculture opts for different styles: Sergio’s Last Remix of Sleep Tight launches into a rhythmic house workout with smooth dancefloor grooves while his Steady State Remix of Hit The Deck is a faster track with a darker feel, with hard house and techno influences. Notch concludes the release with a house remix of Sleep Tight, keeping the original keyboard riffs and adding smooth electronic beats, crisp rhythmic hi-hats and a subtle yet punchy organ riff. All remixes are available to download free of charge in high quality MP3 format. Find out more on our release page.
Expertly timed to fit in with two of our autumn album releases, our latest EP features two club remixes of Psychadelik Pedestrian tracks. The original mix of Hypnotise was included on our Best Bytes 3 compilation and Phish Funk have joined forces with Aerologic to bring the track to the dancefloor. Combining the funky house sound of Phish Funk with the upfront progressive EDM vibe of Aerologic and the stuttering electro arpeggios of the original track, our new club mix of Hypnotise features funky bass guitar alongside electronic house grooves. Pulse is taken from the new Psychadelik Pedestrian album Fifteen, and here Notch pumps up the tempo and adds deep house rhythms while keeping faithful to the original electro track, using the punchy melody and synth riffs. Download both tracks on our release page.
Two years after his last LP, Nocturnia, Psychadelik Pedestrian returns with a brand new 10 track album combining his trademark blend of chillout, trance, breaks and trip hop. Featuring a slightly mellower sound and focussing on instrumental tracks, Fifteen features strong chilled grooves in new tracks Catching Rays and Breaking Waves as well as Starlight, making an appearance here after previously being released on an EP. Also included is plenty of atmospheric orchestral action, with Into The Ether setting the scene, The Dead Of Night introducing a slightly eerie feel with sinister strings and Sleep Tight bringing the album to a climax with some dirty electronic sounds. Find out more and download all of the tracks free of charge on our album page.
