28 December 2010Toucan Music Presents 2010 - Feature Length Mix on VKRS Radio

VKRS radio will be broadcasting an exclusive preview of our end of year 2010 DJ mix for 2010 this Thursday, 30th December, at 8:00pm GMT / UTC. The mix features 77 minutes of Toucan tracks from 2010, by artists such as Redmann, Beat Doctor, JMD, Phish Funk and Psychadelik Pedestrian and will be available to download on Friday 31st December, so if you want an advanced preview tune in to VKRS on Thursday night!

27 December 2010More breaks from Psychadelik Pedestrian

Our last release of 2010, out today, is from Psychadelik Pedestrian, who presents two new breaks tracks. Tears In My Heart starts with dreamy, melancholic echoing vocals, sweeping synth pads and a grumbling, warped bassline before breaking down to an anthemic old skool stab riff. The Interloper builds up with infectious pizzicato-style arpeggios before dropping into a slamming breakbeat and haunting synth line. Both tracks are available to download in full length, high quality mp3 format and ideal for mixing into any DJ set. Get them here on the release page.

17 December 2010New UK hardcore release

Our latest hardcore release, out today, is from Dreamworld who have remixed JMD tracks in a UK hardcore style. First up is the remix of Polar which features a slamming UK hardcore rhythm, driving bassline, acid sounds and a large catchy trance riff. Also included is a remix of New Beginning, combining huge trance synth stabs, chords and arpeggios with a pounding hardcore beat. Both remixes as usual are full DJ friendly cuts featuring extended intro for mixing. 26 November 2010New hard dance release

Redmann pumps it up a notch in our latest release, out today, featuring two hard dance mixes of his new track Take On The Dancefloor. The original mix includes funky hard house beats, distorted vocals and synths, foreboding bell effects and freaky phone sounds. The Rawbase remix strips down the original, building up the tension with minimal sub-bass and vocal effects before breaking down to a huge warping bassline riff. 26 October 2010New funky acid house release

Our latest release, out today, features two feature length house tracks from Phish Funk, their first new material since 2008. The Squelch combines the acid sound of the tweaking Roland TB-303 with Phish Funk's trademark funky house vibe, featuring driving dancefloor beats and bouncy slap bass. Lava Lamp is a more laid-back funky house track, with chilled rhodes piano and phased pads backing the trademark Phish Funk scratchy guitar and strings. As usual, both tracks are free to download in full length, high quality, DJ friendly mp3 format and are released under a Creative Commons licence for you to re-use in your DJ sets or podcasts.

28 September 2010New electro / trance release

After the recent chillout theme, Beat Doctor cranks the tempo up a notch in our latest release, available for download today. Got Me is a bouncy club track with trance synth riffs, a catchy vocal hook in the middle section and a large reverberating snare drum. Nosedive is a darker, fidget house track with electro and speed garage influences, featuring a huge bassline, and building up with glitchy effects before introducing electro arpeggios half way through. Both tracks are available to download free in full length DJ-friendly format on the release page.

To complement our latest chillout release, the latest mix of Toucan tracks has been released today on DJ mix netlabel Sonic Walker. Featuring 11 of the best chillout tracks from Toucan, the mix takes a journey through our back catalogue and also includes a couple of tracks from the new Psychadelik Pedestrian E.P.

The fourth volume of 2010 remixes from Toucan Music, released today, includes two remixes of Phish Funk tracks in a trance style. First up, JMD reworks Aquarius in an upbeat, bouncy trance style, keeping the haunting female vocals and adding luscious reverb, soaring arpeggios and a driving bassline. The second remix is by Marc Burt, whose progressive trance version of Beautiful Geometry adds funky warping synth bass, warm synth pads and a catchy lead riff.

In the third volume of 2010 remixes from Toucan Music, out today, two Psychadelik Pedestrian tracks are reworked by Beat Doctor. First up is Psychadelik Pedestrian's 2009 track, World Of Fantasy, which is remixed in a slightly minimal old skool deep house style with retro synth basslines, stabs and pads. The B-side is 1998 track Eternal Truth, which is moulded into an upbeat bouncy house track, retaining the classical piano and strings, and adding sidechained pads, a thumping kick and sizzling contemporary synths. In the second volume of 2010 remixes, released today, JMD brings two of his favourite tracks bang up to date. The remix of On Target retains the catchy trance riffs of the original and adds bouncy club beats and a new bassline, while the new version of Airstrike introduces rippling chords and arpeggios to complement the track's lush pads and melodies. Both tracks are available in full, DJ friendly mp3 audio to download from the release page .

22 February 2010New bassline house release

Beat Doctor returns with the Anaconda E.P. released today, featuring three new bassline house tracks. Anaconda combines a drum and bass style warped bassline with electro house beats, sinister textures and screaming effects. Big Fat Star features another large, fat bassline, this time adding filtered, stuttering vocal samples along with pumping house rhythms. Itchy And Scratchy keeps the bassline house vibe but has a more minimal feel, with dirty glitch effects and old skool sliding hoover samples. All tracks are free to download under a Creative Commons licence in full length, DJ friendly mp3 audio format from the release page.

Risey's 2007 trance track Pattaya Sun Rise is now available to download free of charge from Toucan. The track, which has been available to download in our Premium releases collection since release, has today been moved to our Current releases making it freely available to use under a Creative Commons licence. 22 January 20102010 Remixes of Redmann

New today are two brand new, full length remixes of Redmann tracks, fresh for 2010. First up, Beat Doctor reworks the Psychadelik Pedestrian version of Redmann's March 2005 track You Make Me in a contemporary electro house / progressive trance crossover style, taking the vocal and melody and adding bouncy house rhythms and hypnotic synths. The second remix is by Psychadelik Pedestrian who takes the orchestral elements of Peace, the lead track from Redmann's 2009 Three In One E.P., and pitches everthing up a notch adding frenetic breakbeats and deep, pulsating bass. 1 January 20102009 Download Chart revealed

Happy new year, and decade! The downloads have been counted and verified and we can reveal that in 2009, we had a massive 107,449 downloads! This time around, we've broken with tradition and released a Top 20 Download Chart rather than the usual Top 10, and due to the large proportion of downloads in comparison with previews, we are no longer compiling the previews and percentages charts which would be fairly meaningless.

Topping the list this year is surprisingly Prismattack, reflecting the continued popularity of our hardcore releases on the site, with another hardcore release and 2008's top track Feel The Power at number 3. Fioko's Baby Crying is the top track out of those released in 2009, at number 7. The full chart is available here .
